Attorney Profiles

Both partners of Hannigan & Botha, Ltd., of Lake County, Illinois, bring to the table years of experience working in the insurance industry.

Richard Hannigan worked as an insurance defender from 1973 to 1991 when he made the decision to leave his career in the industry as in-house counsel behind and use his knowledge of the process to protect workers. For over 20 years, he has lectured attorneys on various topics concerning workers' compensation. He has been a guest speaker at in-service seminars for the arbitrators and commissioners at the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission. The Illinois State Bar Association has chosen Mr. Hannigan to be the editor of their Workers' Compensation Newsletter for the last 11 years. Over 1,000 lawyers receive this newsletter four times per year. He was joined by Kevin Botha in 2001. Mr. Botha brought experience working for insurance companies as a claim manager.

Both attorneys have significant medical understanding of the physiology of your injury and the terminology being thrown around to describe it. They make it a point to attend medical seminars. This familiarity with the medical process combined with an experienced understanding of the insurance companies' tactics make Hannigan & Botha, Ltd., a formidable opponent.
