Workplace injury sends man to burn center, another to hospital

Across the country, people report to their jobs each and every day. While most workers are probably aware of the potential for injury, most people likely think that they will not be involved in a workplace accident. All states, including Illinois, require employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance coverage in the event of a workplace injury. Two out-of-state men are likely entitled to such benefits after they suffered injuries in a recent accident.

According to reports, a 23-year-old man was attempting to clean a large container used in the manufacture of face cream. Unfortunately, steam escaped from the container, burning the man, and he was transported by helicopter to an area burn center. He reportedly suffered severe burns to his arms, legs and chest. His identity has not been revealed at this time. It has been determined that no chemicals were involved in the incident.

A second employee of Edison Laboratory attempted to provide aid to his coworker. As a result, he apparently injured his shoulder. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

While the incident will likely be investigated in order to determine what caused the accident and to prevent future accidents, the two people suffering from a workplace injury will likely need compensation for the financial consequences of the accident. In addition to their hospital bills, they may suffer from lost wages as they receive treatment for and recover from their injuries. Fortunately, they likely qualify for workers’ compensation benefits. Many people in Illinois have sought additional assistance to ensure they are fairly compensated.
