Painter in Illinois dies after workplace accident

There are a variety of unsafe jobs. Even when people take proper safety precautions, accidents can still happen. Unfortunately, some accidents can leave families grieving the loss of a loved one. For example, one man was recently killed in a workplace accident in Illinois.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. in late April. According to reports, the man was taking part in a two-week project that involved painting a water tower. The man and his co-workers were just beginning the second week of the project when he reportedly fell approximately 100 feet.

Although CPR was administered at the scene, he reportedly died about 30 minutes after being transported to the hospital. The identity of the deceased worker is unclear at this time. As a result of the fatal accident, representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will likely conduct an investigation to help determine the cause of the accident.

A workplace accident can have a significant impact on a worker and his or her family members. In the event of a fatal accident such as this, family members are left wondering how they will cope with the expenses created by medical bills and funeral costs, among others, stemming from the accident. While nothing will likely reduce the grief a family feels, Illinois law does require employers to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage for employees in the event of an accident. A professional with experience concerning such benefits and the compensation process can help pursue a claim for all of the benefits to which a family is likely entitled.
