Man dies in Illinois construction accident

There are many hazards that people face every day. While there are more obvious ones, such as a reckless driver or severe weather, there are ones that are unexpected, especially in a person's place of employment. For example, one man was recently killed in a bizarre construction accident in Illinois involving a lift.

The man was an employee of Area Erectors Inc. According to reports about the accident, he was on a lift while he worked. Unfortunately, the lift extended unexpectedly, and the man became pinned against the roof.

Other workers were able to extricate the man and provided CPR until rescue workers could arrive. Unfortunately, the man later died at the hospital as a result of the injuries he suffered in the accident. An investigation has since been launched by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Many companies are devoted to protecting the safety of their employees, but there are some accidents that workers are unable to anticipate or avoid. Because a construction accident can cause a serious injury or death, Illinois requires employers to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage to their employees. In the event of an accident such as this, the coverage can help with the financial burden of an accident, including hospital expenses, lost wages and funeral costs, and if the accident is fatal, benefits typically extend to dependent family members. A professional with experience with such claims can help those who deserve the benefits pursue the compensation to which they may be entitled. The last thing a grieving family or injured worker needs to worry about is his or her financial situation.
